Brian is a highly sought-after advisor for privately held business owners due to his business knowledge, financial skills and how he is a champion for entrepreneurial businesses and their owners.

Brian founded Nelson Business Enterprises, Inc. (NBE). NBE is the owner and operator of The Alternative Board (TAB) of PA & OH Valley. TAB is an international franchise organization operating in 22 countries around the world. Brian has built the largest franchise in the TAB organization world-wide.

TAB - PA & Ohio Valley has been advising many diverse businesses and their owners to achieve their business and personal visions for more than a decade. TAB does this by creating advisory boards of noncompeting independent business owners and coaching and consulting with these businesses to help them grow sales and improve profitability. Currently, TAB PA & OH Valley provides these services to over 100 companies in the Chester, Bucks and Montgomery Counties. These advisory boards are facilitated by experienced and successful executive coaches

Brian has held the top management position for SCA’s North American Health Care division for 5 years and was a member of SCA’s Global Health Care management team, which had responsibility for sales in excess of 1 billion USD with locations around the world. SCA’s Health Care organization is now combined with its Tissue operations and is called Essity. Under Brian’s leadership, the North American Health Care group grew at an average annual growth of three times the market rate while EBITDA grew 9.4% on an average annual rate excluding the effects of a volatile petroleum market.

Prior to this position, Brian was the CFO of SCA’s overall North American organization for 5 years where his financial leadership improved operations while creating focus on the value drivers for the business. Brian also held the positions of Corporate Secretary, Controller and Head of Systems and Taxes. He reorganized the business into a North American regional structure and reduced working capital significantly, saving significant costs annually while improving cash flow.

He has led and participated in acquisitions ranging from a couple of million dollars to acquisition in the hundreds of millions of dollars. He has extensive experience in helping partnerships and business owners transition their business with them achieving a successful exit.

Prior to SCA, Brian held various positions at both Scott Paper Company and KPMG Peat Marwick, auditing well known organizations such as GE, QVC, Bradford White, Selas, Mellon Bank and many other prominent organizations.

Brian graduated magna cum laude from Drexel University in Accounting and Finance and obtained his CPA license in 1992. Subsequently he obtained his MBA from Drexel University. Member Success

There are numerous benefits. Certainly having a great coach is a huge asset. Secondly, having the opportunity to vet business opportunities, strategies and plans is a great help. Last, it is very gratifying to help fellow board members work through their issues as well.

We have an excellent group of professional business owners. I learn something from them each month. Hearing and seeing what they are doing in their business is motivational for me. And they are not "yes" people. They tell me when I should be doing something differently.

16 yrs. in business. Company was run like mom and pop shop for 14 years. Since joining TAB we have been able to identify our niche in the market and now the company is being run like a real company with focus and clarity as to where we are going and an actual plan on how we’re going to get there. Our company is poised to grow in size and wealth beyond my expectations and with TAB I will be able to sleep at night in the process.
